What the report reader does
Enter a GIA, IGI, GCAL, HRD Antwerp, GSI, or legacy AGS report number to receive a consistent reading of the facts that laboratory reports: proportions, finish, color, clarity, fluorescence, measurements, and available comments.
The Carat Standard Score is a 0–100 guide to the disclosed report characteristics. Price, retailers, and commercial relationships are never inputs. A scorecard is not a guarantee of beauty, value, identity, or condition, and it cannot replace exact-stone imagery or an in-person inspection.

The Carat Standard does not sell diamonds, hold inventory, or accept sponsored rankings or paid placement. It applies the same versioned method to every supported report and explains the strengths, cautions, and questions worth carrying into a showroom.

Can a diamond grading report tell me whether a diamond is beautiful?
Not completely. It establishes standardized facts and measurements. Facet personality, transparency, contrast, and personal response still require imagery or an in-person view.
What is The Carat Standard Scorecard & Score?
The scorecard brings reported proportions, finish, color, clarity, fluorescence, and available detail into one consistent analysis. The Carat Standard Score is a 0–100 reading of the characteristics the report discloses. It is a guide to the report—not a substitute for seeing the stone.
Is a higher score always better?
Not automatically. The score describes alignment with our report-based preferences. Taste, transparency, facet pattern, and presence still belong to the individual stone.
Does price or a retailer affect the score?
No. The score is calculated only from the laboratory report. Price and retailers play no part in it.
Can the same diamond appear at more than one jeweler?
Yes. Many jewelers list stones from shared supplier inventory. When the laboratory and report number match—and the measurements and inscription agree—it may be the exact same diamond offered through different sellers. Compare availability, total terms, returns, setting responsibility, and aftercare as well as price.
Can I read a laboratory-grown diamond report?
Yes. Laboratory-grown reports receive the same structured reading. Origin is important context, but cut proportions, finish, clarity characteristics, and visual inspection still deserve attention. Since October 2025, GIA’s laboratory-grown reports classify eligible stones as Premium or Standard rather than using the natural-diamond color and clarity grades, so the report date and service name matter.
Can the reading confirm the physical diamond?
No. Match the inscription and report details, verify the report with its issuing laboratory, and seek a qualified inspection when identity or condition matters.
How should I use the result?
Use it to focus your viewing and ask better questions about the exact stone, setting, return terms, and aftercare.
